The healing energy of reiki can help our bodies to relax on a physical level, while also helping our energy body to also find peace and heal. In a previous post, we covered all of the basics about this life force energy healing method, so if you’re new to reiki, you’ll want to read that post first!
In the post, I briefly mentioned distant healing, but I wanted to make sure to share with you some of the incredible benefits of doing a reiki healing session.
To quickly recap, in a long-distance reiki session, the reiki practitioner or reiki master will send reiki energy to the client, across any distance, near or far. Usually, the sessions will either be held over the phone, or using a video conference tool like Zoom, Skype, or something similar (remote reiki!). The client will receive the healing energy the same as they would in person, as energy itself knows no boundaries like time or distance. Now, why would you choose to have a session at home versus in person? Let’s learn!
When you choose to do your reiki sessions from a distance, you aren’t tying your experience to any single location. By having your session from wherever you currently are, you won’t need to go to one specific studio in order to find peace and healing. Wherever you are now, that’s where the healing is. The focus of your session can be much more on connecting with yourself, than with the feeling of a studio.
Choosing to do your reiki sessions from a distance opens up your doors to practitioners from all over the world. Even if you live in the most rural part of your state or country with no reiki practitioner within a hundred miles of you, you will still be able to easily find the healing your body craves!
For my fellow wandering souls, the days of having to leave behind your favorite practitioner are over! By working with someone who provides distance reiki, you will always be able to have them in your pocket, no matter which corner of the Earth you find yourself in! I don’t know about you, but I always find that travel can bring up the most unexpected life lessons, and knowing that I’ll have reiki to lean on whenever I need it brings me so much peace of mind.
Having the entire online space to search for a reiki practitioner allows you to really find someone you truly connect with, feel safe with, and trust. Healing can be a deep, spiritual experience, and there’s no reason to walk that path with someone who doesn’t feel like a good fit for you! There is so much more freedom to follow your intuition while choosing, than if there is only one person in your city to choose from or having to drive a greater distance to find someone.
Distance reiki is also an amazing way to protect yourself and others during these uncertain times. Since reiki is just as effective in person as it is from a distance, this can be an excellent way to limit unnecessary exposure. Especially if your body is already processing something or fighting off an illness, you can give it a little extra support without any guilt of passing your illness on to your practitioner or to others.
One of my favorite parts of distance reiki is getting to choose my own most comfortable position for healing. Sometimes I enjoy sitting in a quiet room, but other times, laying down in my bed with my pillows and cozy blankets is exactly what I need. During distance reiki sessions, I can choose which one feels right for me, which I think makes the sessions even more effective!
As your reiki practitioner will tell you, sometimes during a session, you may feel the need to release some emotions. As the receiver, we can sometimes feel self-conscious about this and (even without realizing it!) restrict ourselves from fully releasing whatever needs to come out, whether it is crying, anger, joy, etc. Releasing old energy is such an important part of healing, and having the space, time, and privacy to do it fully will only get you that much-needed healing sooner.
I don’t know about you, but after a reiki session, I am completely in “the zone”. And by this I mean, I am basically a relaxation zombie! My body becomes so relaxed and my mind in such a state of bliss, the last thing I want to do is get up, get in the car, and drive home! Doing reiki sessions from home allows me to remain in my bliss longer, and soak up every ounce of relaxation my session has brought me.
Another great aspect of distance reiki healing is that it is more often than not, less of a financial investment than an in-person session (as the practitioner isn’t having to worry about paying for a rented space). For some, a lower price point may mean they can receive reiki more often!
Immediately following your distance reiki session, you have the ability to meditate, journal, or simply reflect on your session. Not to say that in an in-person session, you will be rushed out the door, but it’s likely that you wouldn’t be able to stay, hang out and reflect for half an hour to an hour after your session. Doing a distance session allows you all the time you need afterward to soak up every insight, breakthrough, or thought you processed during your session.
I purposely learned how to give distance reiki, because I know just how powerful of a tool it can be in one’s healing process and spiritual journey. I’ve personally felt its effectiveness in my health, as well as my emotional and mental wellbeing.
